Food Arts featured Wylie Dufresne of WD-50 for September's Techniques section. Bill Milne photographed him making noodles from shrimp puree. They tasted... interesting. :)

EVERYONE decided to lunch in Madison Sq. Park, had to seriously hunt for a seat. May have been my first ever vendor hot dog...
And couldn't resist the old subway sign, Park Ave. South between 26th & 27th.

Virtual Photo Shoot
A day happily passed at James Worrell's studio, shooting a technology story on camcorders for Cigar Aficionado. I have to take credit for the concept of the shoot, inspired by MIT professor Harold Edgerton's photos that froze time.
Basically, the three pages of camcorders will all feature some aspect of capturing motion... but too bad Frida, Jame's suspicious dachshund couldn't be the star.

Mint Jules
After Evolution it was time to shoot for the trend story in Market Watch (beer/wine/spirits trade) at Flatiron Lounge- about how brown spirits are tapping into 'the cocktail craze.' We shot a Sidecar (cognac), a Southern Peach (whisky) and a version of a Mint Julep (bourbon). Mint Jules is named for it's mixologist mother, Julie Reiner of Flatiron Lounge. It's a cross breed of a Mint Julep with a Mojito - and the mint just lingers and lingers. Love this job.

shutterflies
Leah and I stopped by Evolution in SoHo. We dropped $160 for 3 butterflies for the camcorder shoot tomorrow - including one who's wings we had detached and rearranged so it would appear to be alive.... This was entertaining in itself, but so was hearing Steve in accounting call in the credit info in his most businesslike tone: "Yes, um, I believe Ms. Kingman will be coming by later this afternoon to collect some, um, butterflies." To chuckles around the accounts office.
